Review of Reese Weight Distribution Hitch - 10,000 lbs Weight Distribution System - RP65509

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Reese Weight Distribution System. Now this is going to be a great option for those of you who maybe haul some smaller trailers. Even with your smaller trailers, you'll notice that as you put the weight in, all that weight is going onto your ball mount on your vehicle, which can cause the backside of your vehicle to kind of sag down. That's got several different side effects, one, the front end will probably come up causing your headlights to be in the eyes of oncoming traffic. It can also cause your steering to be kind of light there on the front end, as that weight is lifted up, your tires don't get as much traction. more

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a quick look at the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. Now, if you've ever hauled a trailer on your ball mount, you've probably noticed that all of that trailer weight gets put onto that one point on the back of your vehicle, which causes your vehicle to sag in the back. That's got a few different disadvantages for your vehicle. One, it's going to put your trailer out of level, so it's not going to be the most ideal situation for your trailer. more

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Installation - 2014 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite Grand Touring Travel

Shane: Hey, everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2014 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite Grand Touring Travel trailer, and I'm going to walk through how to install the Fastway e2 weight distribution setup. What are some of the reasons why we would want weight distribution One, when we load our trailer on our vehicle, it drops the back of the vehicle and raises the front of the vehicle. That can put a lot of unnecessary stress, back axle. Front end, it raises our headlights, tire wear, it messes with our steering, messes with our braking. It takes the nose of the trailer and it dips it down, which means, on a dual axle trailer, it's picking up the back axle so that you're getting most of your weight put on the front one. more

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a quick look at the Reese weight distribution system. Now, if you're not familiar with what a weight distribution system does, it's going to help solve that problem that a lot of us have when we hook up our trailer to our tow vehicle and we're going down the road, our tow vehicle is getting pushed down in the back, which is going to raise our front axle a little bit. So have lighter steering. We won't be able to have as much control, our headlights are going to come up. more

Everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with shank. So this is going to be an integral part of our towing setup. And basically the idea with having weight distribution is, as the name suggests, it's going to distribute the weight across the axles of our setup. So from our trailer axle to our towing vehicle axle, and that helps to prevent a lot of issues that are commonly experienced whenever you're towing.A lot of times that point where the trailer meets your towing vehicle can kind of push down and cause some issues with your vehicle being pushed down. more

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, I'm going to walk you through how to install the Husky weight distribution system on your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Weight distribution is designed to take added weight from the back of the truck and put it back onto the trailer. The reason you want that is if you have too much weight on the back of the truck, it's going to sag the back of the truck. It's going to raise the front. You're going to get unnecessary wear and tear on your front tires. more

Review of Reese Weight Distribution - Weight Distribution - RP66021

Today we're going to take a look at the Reese Trunnion Bar Weight Distribution System without the shank. It has a 10,000-pound gross towing weight capacity and an 800-pound tongue-weight capacity. Now this is a nice high-performance system, which is designed to offer the best in weight distribution with the easy-to-adjust forged head, nice raised ball platform and the flexible powder-coated steel trunnion spring bars. Now the tongue weight rating is your most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. Basically, if the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they'll create a rigid ride which can result in a bouncing trailer. And on the other hand, if the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless. So to determine the proper weight rating for weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight, then add the weight of any cargo that's behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.Combine those two and that'll make up your tongue-weight rating for a weight distribution system. more

Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System Installation - 2019 Toyota RAV4

Shane: Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Fastway E2 Weight Distribution System on a 2019 RAV4. Now when towing a trailer, adding a weight distribution system to your vehicle is going to serve a lot of benefits when towing a camper trailer like this. When towing something like this, what happens when you're going down the highway, if you don't have weight distribution, if it has a lot of tongue weight, it pushes the back of the vehicle down, pulls the front of the vehicle up, and it affects your braking, your steering, your tire wear. It also affects the rear suspension. And with pulling a trailer, you get a lot of sway movement when you're passing tractor trailers, maybe you get a cross wind or something like that.Adding a weight distribution system will transfer the weight not only to the trailer, but it's going to transfer it also back to the front of the wheels, brings the back of the vehicle back up so you get normal braking functions, normal steering, and your tires are going to wear more efficiently. more

We're setting it up with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution and Sway Control Setup. Now this one happens to be the 1,200 pound, 12,000 pound gross trailer weight setup. This one is a toy hauler, so it needs a little bit of extra weight distribution effect on the front to try to get everything balanced out properly. This gives us all of the weight distribution properties through a trunnion bar. I like trunnion bars a lot more than I do round bars because those tend to hang down kind of a lot lower and reduce ground clearance. more

They're trying to figure out which is going to be the best weight distribution system for themNow, there are a few different types of weight distribution out there. The more basic set is something similar to like a CURT MV Set up. Just going to be your Trunnion bars that come back, no friction sway control whatsoever, you actually have to add that on secondary, and with that system you can't back up, so it's kind of an older more antiquated system.A lot of the systems, this one is the one we're looking at today. Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're going to be installing Reese's straight line weight distribution system with sway control. This weight distribution system is going to take the weight of your trailer and redistribute it from just being on the rear axle back here at the hitch onto both your front and rear axles. Now, you're asking, "What does this mean to me" Well, this is going to make your truck sit level. So it's going to have a lot of benefits. When your truck is loaded down in the back, it pops the front up. And that changes the geometry of your tires, and that negatively affects your handling and braking performance.By bringing it back down to center, your geometry for your tires returns to normal, so you're getting proper contact of your tires on the road. more

It's gonna cut back on the tire wear on both our truck and our trailer, as well as help with our steering and braking when we're going down the road. Now every hitch is gonna be a little bit different. Lippert Components Weight Distribution - Sway Control Only - LC380605 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Sway Command Electronic Sway Control System. Now, this system is designed for trailers with one to two axles, which would two to four break assemblies, and it is compatible with electric drum trailer breaks. Now this is an electronic sway control system that, ultimately, is designed to limit side to side movement of your trailer when towing. So this unit corrects the sway by activating your trailer's electric breaks. It's more effective than friction sway control systems by correcting sway before it really begins- or before it becomes noticeable. The unit features a solid state gyroscope which senses sway and activates all the trailer breaks simultaneously, and it has an accelerometer that monitors the speed and determines the appropriate break force needed to correct sway at that speed. It also comes with a light pod that mounts no the front of your trailer and signals the system, um, is functioning properly. So what that does is that allows you to look in your rear view mirror and see the status of the sway control system. Solid green illuminates when no issues are detected, and then various green and red light patterns signal when a fault is detected. The unit features a nice molded construction. more

Tuson Electronic Sway Control System Review- Video

Tuson Electronic Sway Control System Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Tucson electronic sway control system for trailer brakes. Designed to work for one up to four axles. The part number is 335TSC-1000.Now our Tucson sway control system has been designed to constantly monitor our trailer yaw. There's an accelerometer inside that can sense when our trailer starts moving side to side in those sudden onset sway events and will use the trailer brakes to get ahead of that and correct it. Essentially what it's going to use is a proprietary algorithm that can determine the difference between a quick steering situation, like if we're trying to avoid some trash or some debris or something like that on the road, or whether we're in one of those quick onset situations where our trailer is really getting out of control. When it senses the latter, when we're starting to lose that trailer control, this is going to send a signal through the purple and the pink wire, to either the left side or the right side of the trailer, that does this with its superior processing capabilities. This is going to be able to take all the critical elements needed and figure out exactly how much pressure, how much force, should go to each side of the trailer, and in what rhythm and in what pattern to get this under control. We can head down the road, and we won't have to worry about those sway events that can be quite scary and without the proper sway control system, requires a lot of immediate action from the driver to get it back under control. This system handles all of that for us. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2003 Nissan Frontier, we're gonna be installing Reese's Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, Part# RP66083.A weight distribution system is gonna take that weight of your trailer that's lowering down the back of your vehicle and help return that factory ride height and make it overall handle better. This is gonna take the weight from your trailer and redistribute it evenly on both your front and rear axle. That's gonna get you closer to your factory unloaded ride height, and it's gonna make it handle much closer to as if you weren't pulling a trailer. As a side benefit, it's gonna lower your headlights while hooked up to a trailer making it easier to see at night and allow your trailer to track behind your vehicle more accurately so you don't have to worry about those turns where your trailer just doesn't follow you quite right. And unlike other weight distribution systems that connect directly to the arms using the chain, this one has the pivoting bracket that works as an anti-sway. This will help keep your trailer from bobbing back and forth when going down the road. It will make you feel better when going over uneven pavement. This weight distribution system is suited for trailers with a ton weight between 400 and 800 pounds and can work with up to a 10,000 pound gross trailer weight, and unlike some weight distribution systems, you can back up with this one. You don't have to worry about disconnecting anything when you get in a tight spot. Before you begin your installation, you're gonna wanna take some measurements. more

Tuson RV Brakes Weight Distribution - Sway Control Only - 335TSC-1000 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Tuson electronic sway control system. This system limits side-to-side movement of your trailer while towing. It corrects sway by activating your trailer's electric brakes, and it's more effective when compared to friction sway control systems, because this gets ahead of sway before it really happens, or before it becomes noticeable to the driver. It works with trailers with one to four axles, or two to eight brake assemblies, and it's compatible with electric trailer brakes. Now, this is designed to continuously monitor trailer angle and movement, speed and other parameters for real time braking calculations. The algorithm that it uses signals most effective braking response within milliseconds of detecting trailer sway. more

Reese SC Weight Distribution System with Sway Control Review- Video

Reese SC Weight Distribution System with Sway Control Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Reese SC weight distribution system with sway control, part number RP66153. What I like about this system as opposed to other weight distribution systems is it's gonna have brake like material that's gonna cause friction on your spring bar. Now what that's for is for your sway control. That's gonna eliminate the need for an additional sway set up, which is gonna smoothen your ride going down the road.Another thing that's good about this system as opposed to others is you don't have to get out of your vehicle to unhook anything to back up your trailer, you can back it up the way it is. Some of the other ones you have to get out and unhook the additional bar.Now this is gonna be very simple to adjust, you're just gonna loosen your two bolts and you can see the teeth that are in here, once you loosen that you can adjust your ball forwards or backwards and set it where needed. Now this setup's gonna have an 800 pound max tongue weight and a 10,000 pound max trailer weight. more
